I came across an absolutely amazing post-metal band yesterday, but since this is a Live Saturday, I’ve decided to write about them tomorrow. However, being in the midst of a post-metal explosion of sound reminded me of the band which introduced me to this sound, and to whom I am still a dedicated fan – ISIS. There are a bunch of videos and concerts floating around the tubes, but not many of them have both high video quality and a satisfying audio mix, especially given that ISIS had such a massive, towering sound, coupled with surprising detail and intricacy.
Eventually, I did find this video from a 2005 concert from Lund, Sweden, broadcast on Swedish television (I can’t believe how awesome that is; Romanian T.V. wouldn’t even broadcast Metallica, never mind serious stuff like ISIS), and even though it’s only comprised of three songs from the mighty Panopticon album, I think there’s more than enough brilliance to fill this Saturday’s blog post. Also, I found myself quite partial to this show, because it reminds me so very much of the concert in Cologne I was so lucky to be able to witness. So, without further ado, I leave you with ISIS.
